Sustainable responsibility for our nature and environment
Back in 1996, we made an important decision to focus more on working sustainably and environmentally friendly. That’s why KolleKolle became one of the first hotels in Denmark to be Green Key certified. These many years of environmentally responsible focus have become an integral part of how we work and are deeply embedded in our DNA.
KolleKolle was built as a training venue in 1972, a time when energy consumption and water waste weren’t a big concern. Over the years, we have improved every possible installation in the building. At the same time, sustainability and environmental responsibility are integrated into everything we do.
We are constantly seeking new ideas and projects. We have established a dedicated Environmental Team consisting of employees from all departments. Together with their colleagues, they are continuously looking for new initiatives and improvements.

ISO 50001-certified energy management
From 2022 to 2024, we - together with the properties owned by the Danish Agriculture & Food Council - underwent a three-year energy management process, which culminated in the certification of our hotel.
If you’re not familiar with it, ISO 50001 is an international standard for energy management that sets requirements for concrete objectives to reduce and optimize energy consumption.

Sustainability is more than Green Key and energy management
Green Key
Green Key is an independent international eco-label for hotels, hostels, and conference and training venues. All Green Key members are regularly evaluated, approved, and monitored by a jury, with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency participating as an observer. This ensures professional input for the operation and development of the eco-label, independent of specific business interests.
Access Denmark
Approximately 15% of the Danish population is affected by a disability, and they are warmly welcome here. At KolleKolle, the 'Access Denmark' certification ensures accessibility in meeting rooms, the restaurant, and accessible rooms designed for guests with disabilities.
Social responsibility
We have a close partnership with Jobcenter Furesø and Furesø Municipality, supporting the local community, the municipality’s unemployed, and our industry.
As part of this collaboration, we have initiated various initiatives, including hosting a workshop for the municipality's unemployed residents. This has helped increase interest and applications for jobs in the hotel and meeting industry.
